Town Mayor Civic Year 2017-18
Torpoint Town Council elected Councillor Lambert Keise to be Town Mayor at a ceremony at the Council Chambers on Thursday 18th May 2017. Town Mayoress is Mrs Lambert Keise. The Town Council elected Councillor Mrs Chris Goodman as Deputy Mayor and her consort is Mr Chris Goodman. The ceremony was conducted with the Town Crier, Councillors, members of the public and Officers of the Council present.

Appointment of official Town Crier for Torpoint
Clive O'Shaughnessy has been a Town Crier for four and a half years and is delighted to have been appointed official Town Crier for Torpoint. Clive will support and promote civic and charity events and local businesses by attending and either giving a relevant "shout" or acting as Master of Ceremonies. Clive could also attend private events such as weddings, birthdays or anniversaries to make the day special. When attending competitions, there is a "Home Cry" whereby the attributes and special features of the Criers Home Town are proclaimed.

Christmas and New Year rubbish and recylcing
Boxing Day (Monday 26 December) is the only collection day that is affected over Christmas and New Year - There will be no rubbish, clinical waste, recycling or garden waste collections on Boxing Day. Rubbish due to be collected on this day will be collected on Monday 2 January. If recycling or garden waste collection is due on Boxing Day it will be collected on Saturday 31 December.

Cornwall Council consultation "Dogs on Beaches"
Cornwall Council are proposing to keep all the existing conditions, times, dates and durations of dogs on beaches restrictions with new Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs); meaning they propose that dogs would be allowed on designated beaches at the same times as they are allowed now. Communities are encouraged to give Cornwall Council their views by completing the online questionnaire, available: www.cornwall.gov.uk/dogsonbeaches, the survey runs until 12 January 2017.
