I became a Councillor to listen to, and serve my community in the pursuit of enhancing, shaping and developing our town in order to improve the quality of life, and life chances, for all, now and for generations to come. I joined Torpoint Town Council in 2015 and was previously elected Chair of AMOC, elected Torpoint Town Deputy Mayor for the civic years 2016-2018 and Mayor for the civic years 2019 -2022, Lead for SAS Plastic Free Communities, Climate Change and Torpoint Environmental Action. I trained as a teacher at Bedford College of Physical Education and taught for 40 years, 34 years at Torpoint Community College. In 2012 I had the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch along the Barbican in Plymouth as part of the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay. As a member of Torpoint & Rame Active Community Network I have worked to improve Sport and Leisure facilities for the community of Torpoint and Rame with the building of the Torpoint & Rame Community Sports Centre in 2006 and the second phase an Artificial Turf Pitch for Torpoint in the planning.
